Call of the Dolphins is the latest giant screen documentary from award-winning Massachusetts filmmakers Jonathan Bird and Tim Geers. The film opened to the public at the Simons Giant Screen Theatre at the New England Aquarium on February 14, and will run through April 16.
“Call of the Dolphins brings audiences face-to-face with the world of dolphins, offering a fresh and immersive experience with these remarkable animals that have captured the human imagination for centuries,” said Jonathan Bird, director and co-producer of the film.
The film’s executive producer is Jonathan’s wife, Christine Bird, who also happens to be a member of the Ipswich River Community Chorus. “The chorus recorded two pieces of original music that are featured in the film. They were composed by our film composer, Bruce Zimmerman of Connecticut,” added Bird.
As an award-winning North Reading filmmaker, Bird’s previous works include Ancient Caves (winner of the 2020 Best Film of the Year Award from the Giant Screen Cinema Association), Astronaut: Ocean to Orbit, and Secrets of the Sea (winner of the 2022 Best Film of the Year Award).
